Very enjoyable YA fantasy. Lighter and "younger" than the Sherwood Smiths, and pro-female without being strident. The writing and characters matured through the series, as well as becoming more adult with good-guy deaths and sacrifice. Each of the books are relatively self-contained and coming to a good stopping point without ending the overall story. Finishes with an HEA.--Rebekah
